Why bother dressing up when working from home? It’s a legitimate question, and one that, during the beginning phases of COVID-19, I was asking myself a lot. You aren’t going to see anyone except from the waist up on your Zoom calls. After all, isn’t the benefit of working from home being able to sit in your PJs with your laptop in your lap? That is a nice perk and a relief from your usual hard charging work week in the office. You think, I could get used to this! But, like vacation, it loses its luster after a week or two. In fact, it becomes, dare I say, depressing.

Life Must Go On.

With no end in sight to the work from home status, you start to wonder if life as you know it will ever be the same. And, yet, Life must go on!

You still have work to do, and some of you may have to tackle the same work demands with little ones interrupting you every 5 minutes asking for more food. How can little humans consume so much food? So, you start to settle in and realize that you need a new routine. You’ve gone through all of the stages of grief and are working your way through acceptance. This is where we are, like it or not.

But, here’s the thing. What if I told you that showing up for yourself by looking put together in actual pants, a nice blouse and wedges makes a difference?

Dressing Up When Working From Home – It’s About Mindset!

Dressing up when working from home has a significant effect on your day because looking the part helps you get into the right frame of mind, even if no one sees you at all. You see you, and it matters!

Stay with me. I’m not suggesting that you put on your Power Suit every morning.  But, hey, if that’s what it takes, go for it! If you haven’t made this one simple change in your everyday routine, I encourage you to try it. Notice if you start getting more done during your work day.

Do you get a confidence boost when you jot out for your coffee break and the Starbuck’s barista compliments you on your outfit?  It may seem like little things, but these little things add up and they start to impact the quality of your life.

It matters because YOU matter!

Try it one day next week and report back! I know it has made a difference for me.

YOU ARE WORTH IT!
